At last night's Edna ISD's special called board meeting, Mason Briscoe IV was named Lone Finalist for the Edna ISD superintendent position. Mr. Briscoe is currently the high school principal at Hallettsville High School. Mr. Briscoe is married to his lovely bride, Sarah, and together they have two sons, Mason V and Ty.
As state law stipulates, a district must wait 21 days before voting the Lone Finalist into the official position of superintendent. If all goes as scheduled, Mr. Briscoe will start to work in the district on Tuesday, May 26th. He will be in and out of the district during the 21-day Lone Finalist period.
I am sorry for the delay in this information. We gave Mr. Briscoe the opportunity to tell his team and constituents the news before we shared it with the ISD and community.

📢 Edna ISD Board Meeting Recap – April 20, 2026 📢

Early Voting Reminder

Today was an incredible day for our Elementary Life Skills class led by Ms. Sydney Peters 💙
Our students started their morning at Pinto Bean, where they practiced ordering their own breakfast, using communication skills, socializing with others, and working on restaurant and table manners. A big thank you to Ms. Peters for treating the class this morning!
Next stop was All About the Flower, where students were welcomed by Sarah Smiga, Deedee Mooney, and Tara Orsak. They learned how to create their own floral arrangements—building fine motor skills, following directions, and expressing creativity. The smiles say it all… they were so proud of their work!
To wrap up the day, the class headed to AJ’s where they continued practicing real-world skills by ordering, eating, and socializing in a community setting. A huge thank you to Aundrea Barnes for generously picking up the tab!
Every stop today was right here in our community—from local restaurants to a local flower shop—and we are so thankful for the businesses and people who welcomed our students and poured into them.
This is what Life Skills is all about—real experiences, building confidence, and learning skills our students will use every day ❤️

Look at what our EHS Culinary 3 & 4 students whipped up! 🍜 For their Ramen Challenge, they had to include a protein, 3+ fresh veggies, a crunchy element, and perfect plating. Check out their amazing final bowls and kitchen action! 👨🍳👩🍳

🎣 Fishing for Life Opportunities 💙
Our Junior High/High School LifeSkills students had the BEST day out on the water, and it was one they won’t forget anytime soon. From learning how to bait hooks to casting lines and reeling in fish, our students got hands-on experience, built confidence, and had so much fun doing it.
We are so thankful for the incredible community that made this day possible:
👏 Huge thank you to Captain Moor for partnering with us and guiding our students—his experience as a fishing guide made such a difference.
👏 Thank you to Everett Lorenzebertt for welcoming us to the Indianola Fishing Pier, allowing us to fish, and generously providing burgers and refreshments for everyone.
👏 Thank you to Ben Keating with Port Lavaca Auto Group for donating fishing poles so every student could participate.
👏 Thank you to LNRA and Kayden Tipton for donating bait and helping our students rig lines and get set up.
Because of all of you, our students didn’t just go fishing—they learned real life skills, teamwork, and independence in a way that only experiences like this can teach.
And yes… one of our students caught a 25 lb black drum!! 🐟👏
Days like this are what it’s all about. 💙
